New NTSB reports this week
Events previously reported in the Weekly Accident Update
5/21 fatal V35 collision with terrain at Rougemont, North Carolina. Change “Crash/Unknown” to “Controlled flight into terrain” and “Substantial damage” to “Aircraft destroyed” in a post-crash fire. The preliminary report notes holes in the engine crankcase but they could have been the result of the impact and not its cause. Preliminary information has elements of possible fuel starvation, attempted visual flight in instrument meteorological conditions and other potential contributing factors.
This concludes the Piston Beechcraft Accidents 6/1/2022 – 6/7/2023.
